PCSI introduces 2 new hand applied pure polyureas. The PCS-400 series combine the ease of hand or airless spray with UV stability for flooring, polyurea topcoats and pipe coatings.

PCSI has introduced 2 new pure polyureas for hand applied applications. PCS-400 and PCS-410 are low viscosity pure polyureas designed to be brush, roll, or airless spray applied. PCS-400 is a high tensile formulations for rigid top coats and flooring. PCS-410 provides the flexibility necessary for top coating existing polyurea, concrete, and pipe coating applications. PCS-400 series polyureas are UV stable and retain color in the sunlight. Please click on the PCS-400 series product key in the polyurea section for technical bulletin information.

PCSI completes MBTA waterproofing project in Boston.

PCSI, in conjunction with Chapman Waterproofing, completed the three submerged tunnel sections of the MBTA.  PCS–30 primer was used over the concrete and PCS–40 was used to prime all steel surfaces.

PCS–355 pure polyurea was applied at 100 mils over the entire exposed surface.  Adhesion values of up to 900 psi were reached, far exceeding specifications.  Please see Case Studies; MBTA for details and photos.

May 22, 2002 - Aliphatic Polyurea Roof Coating Receives Energy Star Rating from EPA

(Stafford, TX)  The first energy saving 100% solids, aliphatic polyurea has received the EPA Energy Star rating.  Polyurea Coating Systems, Inc., earned the Energy Star rating with its aliphatic polyurea; PCS-305.  The Energy Star program run by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is a broad partnership designed to promote buildings, products, and homes that use less energy while providing the same or better performance than conventional designs.

Many studies have been done that quantify the energy savings with reflective roofing materials.  Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has studied high albedo roof coatings extensively.  Another study by the Florida Energy Center found that air conditioning energy use was reduced by an average of 23% in houses with increased roof reflectance.

According to Lee Bower of PCSI, “The savings are not only realized from the immediate energy savings, there are additional savings from utility rebates and peak demand use penalties”.  The polyurea coating is a very durable topcoat over polyurethane foam, or directly on the host roof surface.  Bower continues, ”Reducing the Urban Heat Island effect, where urban areas are generally 1-5° C warmer than rural areas, has been shown to reduce smog production.  In our post 9/11 environment, tightening our collective energy requirement benefits all of us”.

Parties interested in this technology can call Lee Bower, President at (281) 565-7001, or Greg Livingston, Vice President at (773) 528-4723.
