Equipment Operation: Equipment General Maintenance

Back to Spec List

While the application equipment is designed to run for extended periods of time without any major overhauls there are some basic general maintenance procedures that must be followed.  These procedures, if done properly and on a timely basis, will help insure smooth operation and performance with the application equipment.

Proportioning Pump

  1. Check and clean the y-strainer filter screens at least once every two weeks.

  2. Monitor the pump lube reservoir on the ISO side to insure working on a daily basis.  Replace the pump lube as it becomes cloudy.  DO NOT let it solidify.  For vertical proportioning pumps, insure that pump lube is present in the cup area of the pump on a daily basis.

  3. Grease the fittings on the electric motor of the hydraulic unit on a monthly basis.

  4. For pneumatic units, insure the air dryer is properly working.  Fill the air oiler on a daily basis.

Drum Pumps / Material Supply Pumps

  1. Remove air motor cover, clean and re-lube using white lithium grease on a weekly basis.

  2. Check bottom foot valve to insure seating properly on a weekly basis or when switching to a new drum set of material.

Spray Guns

  1. Check the trigger internal mechanism on a weekly basis and re-lube using white lithium grease.  If air is flowing out of trigger handle continuously, trigger needs re-building immediately.

  2. Check and re-lube gun air motor on a weekly basis.

For long periods of shut down or non-spraying, the proportioning unit should be actuated at least once every two weeks.  Material can be flushed through the open hoses.

CAUTION!      DO NOT BLEED TO HOSE PRESSURE TO 0 PSI!!!  Leave at least 1000 – 1500 psi static pressure after putting machine in the retract position.
