PCSI provides silk
screen labels for each drum. These labels will not fade, or be affected by
rain or sunlight. The PCSI labels must not be altered since they contain vital
information such as lot number, safety information, and handling precautions.
-
Drums should be stored
at temperatures above 60 oF and below 140 oF.
Temperatures outside of these limits may result in viscosity and polymer
changes to the resin.
-
When drums are used in
the field, they should be stored in the shade and protected from
precipitation.
-
Drums and proportioner
should be located at a site, which is clear from drains, waterways, and
drainage ditches.
-
During operation and
storage, the drum tops must be kept clean and free from dirt, moisture, and
debris. Immediately clean any spills occurring when changing the pumps,
stirrer, or desiccant.
-
Full drums must be
moved with approved drum dolly. Personnel must wear steel toed shoes when
moving drums. Rubber gloves and eye protection is required.
-
Drums which are in use
should be in an area which is tarped and diked, to prevent any spill from
contaminating the area. Drum storage area should be taped off from the public.
-
People working in the
area where drums are in service will wear appropriate eye protection, such as
chemical goggles. A portable eye wash will be on site and immediately
available.
-
MSDS for each product
will be posted clearly on the equipment truck at all times.
-
Feed drums should be
no more than 8 feet from the proportioner to ensure continuous, uninterrupted
flow to the proportioner.
-
Overnight storage of
drums in public areas should be limited to those necessary to start
application the next day. Excess drums should be removed or transported to a
secure location. Drum storage areas will be properly designated and cordoned
off, with appropriate MSDS on site.
-
Empty drums will be
removed and handled in accordance with local and federal standards.
